In this Feature Highlight, I'm using a Z-depth capture of the entire level and generate a mesh from it to blanket everything in a translucent mist.
The movement is done by using the mesh vertex normals (X,Y) as inputs for a flowmap setup. This can also be done in terrain materials, but using a separate mesh allows the fog to flow over structures and placed rocks.
